Malay and Taytay Bridge Communities, Create Opportunities Through Sisterhood Pact
Two municipalities separated by hundreds of kilometers are coming closer together, united by a shared vision of stronger governance, vibrant tourism, economic growth, and greater opportunities for their people.

The Municipality of Malay, Aklan warmly welcomed the delegation from the Municipality of Taytay, Rizal, led by Municipal Mayor Hon. Allan De Leon, during a courtesy visit to the Sangguniang Bayan ng Malay as the two local government units strengthened their sisterhood relationship.
More than a ceremonial partnership, the engagement opened the door to meaningful collaboration and the exchange of ideas, experiences, and best practices that can help both municipalities move forward.
Joining the Taytay delegation were LEDIPO Taytay OIC Atty. Dustin Regalado, LEDIPO Taytay Focal Person Cristina “Chin” Gonzales, Taytay Tourism Head Ruel Supendio, and PCCI Rizal President Gladdie Mallari. Representing Malay in the discussions was LEDIPO Malay’s Niel Flores.
Their participation highlighted the importance of bringing together local government, tourism, economic development, and the private sector to explore new possibilities for cooperation.
From tourism and investment to local economic development and governance, the meeting provided an avenue for both municipalities to identify areas where their experiences and strengths can complement one another.
The partnership is anchored on Resolution No. 165, Series of 2024, entitled “A Resolution Establishing the Sisterhood Relationship Between the Municipality of Malay, Aklan and the Municipality of Taytay, Rizal, and Authorizing Municipal Mayor Frolibar S. Bautista to Negotiate and Sign a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Municipality of Taytay, Rizal.”
The resolution was enacted and approved in September 2024, setting the foundation for a partnership built on cooperation, mutual understanding, and shared development.
More Than a Partnership
The sisterhood relationship represents an opportunity to go beyond formal ties and create real, lasting connections between communities.
Malay, known as a premier tourism destination in Aklan, and Taytay, a growing center of commerce and development in Rizal, bring different strengths and experiences to the table. By sharing these strengths, both municipalities can discover new opportunities for growth and innovation.
The exchange of best practices may open doors for collaboration in tourism promotion, investment, trade, local economic development, governance, and community-based programs.
The involvement of the Local Economic Development and Investment Promotion Offices (LEDIPO) of both municipalities, the Taytay Tourism Office, and the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) Rizal further underscores the potential for stronger public-private partnerships.
