JKA PH002 Leadership Visit to JKA School of Karate – Cagayan de Oro City February 28–29, 2026 The JKA School of Karate – Cagayan de Oro City had the distinct honor of welcoming senior leaders from JKA PH002, the recognized representative to Japan Karate Association (JKA)
Tokyo Headquarters, during a meaningful visit last February 28–29, 2026.
Present during the visit were Shihan Lito Luague, Representative of JKA PH002 to JKA Tokyo HQ, and Shihan Oscar Obsioma, Chief Instructor. Their presence marked a moment of unity, learning, and camaraderie within the karate community.
They were warmly received upon arrival at Laguindingan International Airport, followed by a “breakfast of champions” at Riverview Hotel, where fellowship and anticipation for the weekend ahead were shared among instructors and students.
The day continued with a scenic and cultural experience, including lunch at Kumaykay River Farm and a visit to Bukidnon, where they enjoyed the region’s famous pineapple ice cream—adding a memorable local touch to the visit.
In the evening, they attended the birthday celebration of Shihan Ernesto “Ernie” Naive, further strengthening bonds of friendship and respect among fellow karate practitioners.
On Sunday, Shihan Luague and Shihan Obsioma led an engaging and inspiring karate training session. The class featured a strong foundation in traditional JKA principles combined with new and evolving teaching methodologies, providing valuable insights to both senior practitioners and students alike.
The JKA School of Karate operates under JKA-NKK PH001, while JKA-Philippines PH002 functions under a separate leadership structure. Despite this distinction, the visit clearly demonstrated a higher principle that binds all practitioners—respect for seniors, unity in the art of karate, and a shared commitment to cooperation and coordination, with politics set aside.
This meaningful visit stands as a testament that beyond organizational differences, the true spirit of JKA remains grounded in mutual respect, discipline, and the continuous pursuit of excellence in karate-do.
