JKA Philippines Shines at 2026 Spring Camp in Tokyo

May 7, 2026 - Manila, Philippines - The 2026 JKA Spring Camp in Tokyo concluded on an extraordinary high note, becoming one of the most successful and unforgettable international campaigns for JKA Philippines members in recent years.

Under the Japan Karate Association banner, the event brought together elite karate practitioners from around the world. It served as a platform for advanced technical training and a stage for Filipino excellence, discipline, and perseverance to earn international respect and recognition.

At the forefront of this historic achievement, JKA Philippines proudly celebrates the recognition of two officially acknowledged 7th Dan (Nanadan) karatekas from the Philippines:

  • Sensei Ruben Tinda-an from the Northern region
  • Sensei Jullian Chees, also originally from the Northern region and now based in Germany

Their elevation to 7th Dan marks a landmark moment in Philippine karate history and further strengthens the country’s growing reputation within the international JKA community.

Meanwhile, Shihan Lito Luague, Chairman of JKA Philippines, together with Sensei Khim Torres, successfully renewed their Special Dan Rights—an important authority granted only to highly trusted and qualified leaders within the organization to conduct official Dan examinations.

Their renewal reflects not only technical mastery, but also the enduring confidence and trust bestowed upon them by the JKA Headquarters in Japan.

Adding further pride to the Philippine delegation, Sensei Cindy Torres successfully earned her Instructor C and Judge C qualifications following rigorous evaluation by the esteemed JKA HQ Shihan-kai composed of:

  • Shuseki Shihan Oishi
  • Shihan Imamura
  • Shihan Shiina
  • Shihan Izumiya
  • Shihan Imura

At the same time, Sensei Kyla Tinda-an achieved her Instructor D and Judge D qualifications—an impressive accomplishment that signals the rise of a new generation of Filipino karate leaders ready to carry the tradition of excellence forward.

Special recognition is also extended to Sensei Raul Andaya, Internal & External Affairs Officer of JKA Philippines, whose unwavering support, professionalism, and strong representation contributed greatly to the success of the Philippine delegation throughout the camp.

According to members of the delegation, the achievements earned in Tokyo were not merely personal victories, but symbols of years of sacrifice, discipline, and relentless commitment to the true spirit of karate-do.

“These achievements are more than ranks and certifications,” shared members of JKA Philippines. “They are pathways that inspire the next generation of Filipino karatekas to dream bigger, train harder, and represent the Philippines with honor on the world stage.”

The organization also expressed deep gratitude to Shihan Lito Luague for his selfless leadership, sacrifices, and dedication in mentoring and guiding members toward growth, excellence, and international competitiveness.

As JKA Philippines continues to expand its presence globally, the success of the 2026 Spring Camp in Tokyo stands as proof that Filipino karate practitioners are earning their rightful place among the world’s finest.
