Rotary Club of Metro East Taytay Unites to End Polio Now: “We’re This Close!”

In celebration of World Polio Day on October 24, the Rotary Club of Metro East Taytay (RCMET) and the Rotaract Club of Metro East Taytay (RACMET) proudly joined the worldwide Rotary movement to End Polio Now — a campaign dedicated to eradicating poliomyelitis and creating a future where no child lives in fear of this preventable disease.

Guided by the theme “We’re This Close!”, the clubs spearheaded a 3-in-1 Service Project for a Healthier Tomorrow, combining vaccination, hygiene awareness, and community empowerment in one meaningful event.

3-in-1 Service Project Highlights:

1.Patak Polio — One Drop that Saves a Lifetime.
Through this initiative, children of Sitio Dayap, Brgy. San Roque, Angono, Rizal received life-saving poliomyelitis vaccines, ensuring their protection from polio.

2. I-Wash to Iwas Sakit — Clean Hands, Healthy Lives.
Members conducted hygiene and sanitation awareness activities, emphasizing the importance of proper handwashing to prevent illnesses.

3. Rotary Market: End Polio Now! — Raising Awareness Through Service and Compassion.
The project also featured an outreach activity that combined service, education, and community involvement to strengthen Rotary’s commitment to public health and social responsibility.

The event was led by GP Don Santiago, SAG Marilyn Santos, and Service Director Ariel Espino, together with the dedicated members of RCMET and RACMET — all serving with hearts full of love, compassion, and purpose.

A heartfelt appreciation was extended to President-Elect Elmer Deloritos and the Municipal Health Office of Angono, Rizal for their invaluable partnership in providing the vaccines that safeguarded dozens of children in the community.

“Every drop, every visit, and every act of service brings us closer to a world where no child suffers from polio again,” shared the project team.

As the Rotary movement continues its fight against polio, RCMET and RACMET reaffirm their commitment to the cause. Together with Rotary clubs around the world, they remain steadfast in their mission — to serve, to protect, and to make history.
