Docu on Struggles of a Young LGBTQ+ Bags Top Prize in ‘Class Project,’ to Air on Knowledge Channel

A powerful story of hope and courage about a young child from the LGBTQ+ community who endured sexual abuse and discrimination has won the top prize in the Knowledge Channel Foundation (KCFI) and the Philippine Association of Communication Educators (PACE) “Class Project Intercollegiate Mini-Documentary Competition 2025” and will air on Knowledge Channel starting May 3 (Saturday) at 6:00PM.  Titled “Para Kay Bhie,” the documentary was created by student filmmakers from the National University – Dasmariñas, chronicling the emotional journey of a young child from the LGBTQ+ community as he battles prejudice and trauma while finding the strength to embrace his identity and live authentically.  The top three student documentaries were awarded by ABS-CBN, Knowledge Channel, and PACE during the Pinoy Media Congress 2025, a gathering of about 1,000 communication students and professors held at the University of Makati last April 25. Joining the top three winners are “Ilaw” by La Verdad College Caloocan, which portrays a mother’s tireless dedication to supporting her child with special needs, and “Uhap” by the University of Makati, which sheds light on efforts to preserve the endangered Ayta Magbukun language in Bataan.
